An Old School Ice Cream Truck in a Modern World

All your childhood memories come flooding back just imagining the sound of an approaching ice cream truck. It might sound nostalgic, but in the modern world, the idea of getting ice cream bars delivered to you seems like a far-fetched dream. What if we tell you that old-school ice cream trucks are still a possibility for your special events? One very special 1956 Chevy truck to be exact and that is So-Cal Social Ice Cream Events.

“I wish you could see how happy people are as they get a frozen treat handed to them directly out of the freezer door.” – Sandy of So-Cal Social Ice Cream

Huntington Beach local Sandy Griswold grew up bodysurfing and then surfing the HB coastline. You may have visited her mobile espresso truck in the 90’s Affair Ala Café but today she is focused on the most delicious ice cream bars. The menu includes Strawberry Shortcake bars, Oreo bars, Haagen-Dazs bars, Chocolate Chip Cookie sandwiches and Popsicle brand Big Sticks (a non-dairy option). Sandy will do everything in her power to accommodate special requests as well.

So-Cal Social was ready to launch in 2020 but the world shut down putting a halt on Sandy’s dreams. The first event So-Cal Social had the opportunity to host was KTLA Henry DeCarlo’s charity golf tournament in Yorba Linda. Today So-Cal Social Ice Cream books 30 – 40 Golf Tournaments yearly. The largest event they have done was for Boeing where they served 2,500 guests in one day! They have served 1,000 guests for the Irvine Company Tenant Appreciation this past summer and 900 guests for another Tenant Appreciation event held Downtown LA on top of a parking garage.  They have even been invited to several memorial service receptions, the deceased being avid car guys. Sandy likes to give back as much as she can and has passed out free popsicles at Cars-n-Copters, Olive Crest, Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation, Miracles for Kids, American Family Housing, Girls Inc. and many more.
